Fireworks, Parade, Rodeo, Watermelon...What More for the Fourth?
Greetings!

Just this morning the Steamboat Pilot reported that that the 4th of July fireworks are on as scheduled this coming Thursday.  Although the Yampa Valley has experienced unusually dry weather for the past month, Public Safety Director Joel Rae said the show was approved Thursday by Fire Chief Mel Stewart after he and other city officials weighed the fire danger and deemed the show safely can go on.

"Obviously, this didn't go without a lot of thought and consideration," Rae said. "The bottom line is even though conditions are dry, Howelsen and Emerald are green. I support Chief Stewart on the decision and am looking forward to a good, safe show."

The fireworks show is only one of many exciting events that are scheduled.  For a detailed list of the week-long activities, click here.  It is exciting to see how the 4th of July week has grown to become such a fun and popular time in Steamboat.

In addition to the fireworks, there is the 4th of July Parade at 10:00 am.  Lincoln Avenue will again be packed with onlookers being entertained with passing floats, bands, clowns, community organizations and who knows what surprises we'll have this year?

Along with the parade & activities, we'll have our shade tent set up in front of our downtown office at 56 9th Street and serving refreshing and FREE LEMONADE and WATERMELONPlease stop by for a little refreshment and say hi. I believe this will be our 10th year doing this!

Meeting of the Minds
This past week, Exclusive Buyer Agents (EBA's) throughout Colorado as well as a guest EBA from Canada, convened in Boulder to attend the annual conference of the Colorado Exclusive Buyer Agents Association (CEBAA).  Educational sessions included the dangers of household contaminants, examining title commitments and how to negotiate inspection issues.  Although many educational classes in the real estate world are general in nature, these classes were specifically geared toward our group and how we can best serve buyers.

The most gratifying part of the conference was the release of legal clauses drafted specifically to protect buyers.  I had the pleasure of serving on the "Clause Committee", and with the assistance of our legal council, these clauses took us two years to complete.  I am very excited about having them "in our holster" when drafting contracts for our buying clients.

We also shared some of the happenings in our local markets; from the Denver Metro area to Summit County, it appears all Colorado markets are on the upswing.

In the article above Joel Rae mentioned how green Howelsen Hill is.  That's also true for other parts of the state, and on the way to the CEBAA conference we passed Green Mountain Reservoir on Highway 9, and I just had to take this shot of how green the landscape is in northern Summit County.  The Gore Mountain Range was spectacular!
