Scott Lanham
Outgoing Board President

limits allow for new ideas and new leadership to develop and guide the organization to new places. Scott Lanham has served incredibly well during his two three-year terms on our Board of Directors. During his second term he led our affiliate as president, and it was a privilege to work directly with him in this role. His solid, steady, faithful, intentional and compassionate leadership did so much to advance Habitat's ministry here in Sussex County. Prior to serving as President, Scott served at Vice President. He and his company, Accessible Home Builders, also sponsored two Habitat homes and led many others to support this ministry which he so passionately promotes. I am grateful that Scott plans to continue to stay involved with Habitat on some of our committees, and I trust that God will continue to use him in such incredible ways. - Kevin Gilmore, Executive Director

Kathy Goodman Assumes Board Presidency |
| | Kathy Goodman Incoming Board President | |
No stranger to the mission of Habitat, Kathy Goodman starts her new role as President of our Board of Directors. Kathy, a local real estate agent with Remax by the Sea in Bethany Beach, has served on the board for several years, most recently as Vice President. Her service with Habitat started with a post- Hurricane Katrina trip to the Gulf Coast and followed by the leading two consecutive Women Build projects here in Sussex County. In 2009 Kathy was awarded the Local and State level Good Neighbor Award for her involvement with Sussex County Habitat for Humanity. I have served with Kathy for several years and look forward to working with her in this new role. - Kevin Gilmore
Kathy says she looks forward to the journey ahead of her as SCHFH President. "As I have moved throughout the various involvements with Habitat I am very excited about this new adventure in leadership. We have a very strong Board compiled of many different individuals with so much knowledge that I look forward to all of their input when making decisions for our affiliate. I feel my role will be that of one who will "listen" and then "engage" when needed."

Rachel Freeman
Outgoing Repair Programs Coordinator
| |
We bid farewell to Rachel Freeman as SCHFH's Repair Programs Coordinator, as she moves to NY to pursue other opportunities. Under Rachel's leadership, the Minor Repairs Program increased the number of families served annually. Rachel also implemented our Major Repairs Program which will continue to expand as well. Rachel oversaw the completion of 3 major and 21 minor repairs this past fiscal year. We are deeply grateful for the leadership she has provided through the Repairs Program, and wish her well as she moves forward.
The Repairs Program supports Habitat's mission by helping to keep Sussex County homeowners in their homes, and includes both Major and Minor Repairs. As of May 2016, the affiliate completed 111 repairs throughout the county.
A search is currently underway for a new Repair Programs Coordinator; see below for job posting.

| | Doug Smith |
Doug Smith of Arlington, VA recently returned to his native state along with his group from Lewinsville Presbyterian Church. The team spent the week building in Ellendale with Sussex County Habitat as part of their annual Summer Mission Project. This was Doug's 16th consecutive year participating in the project.
Doug grew up in Milford, DE with our executive director, Kevin Gilmore, whose father was the pastor at their church. Doug's parents, Roy and Mary Alice, still live in Sussex County, and they stopped by on Day 3 of the build to deliver 40 of Doug's favorite cupcakes to the entire group of volunteers and AmeriCorps members! Doug fondly remembers the special moment he shared with his parents, the volunteers, and AmeriCorps members. "As we ate, we shared hugs, stories and smiles. To me it almost felt like a bit of a celebration," he said.
