Eliza Rubenstein, Artistic Director
Lovely the woods, waters, meadows, combes, vales,
All the air things wear that build this world of Wales...." ---Gerard Manley Hopkins Our dream trip to England and Wales is only two months away, and we want to give you a taste of the Isles before we ever leave the West Coast! Come hear the collection of favorite OCWC tunes that we'll taking abroad with us: Spirituals, folk songs, Shakespeare settings, and more. We'll follow each performance with a special cake-and-champagne reception to celebrate our journey and your ongoing support (and, of course, the birth of a new soprano or alto into the Royal Family!). We can't wait to sing for you one more time before we take flight.

Thank You for Participating in Giving Day!
Thank you to everyone who supported us on Orange County's first-ever Giving Day! We raised $5,575 from 31 donors. Thank you so much for spreading the word.
In addition to the Bonus Funds provided by the Orange County Community Foundation and their partners, we are benefiting from the generosity of our anonymous donor who pledged a $5,000 challenge grant this year. Your contributions on Giving Day will count towards our Challenge Grant goal!
We are hoping this will become an annual event, and we hope you'll share the news with even more friends and family next year! Just imagine what could happen as we grow our base of support in Orange County: more commissions of new works for the treble repertoire, more performances of major choral works, our first professional recording and so much more! Thank you for dreaming with us and spreading the word to make it happen.

Where are We Going?
To England and the "Land of Song!"
We have been preparing for our first international tour for well over a year, and we are so excited that it is just a few short months away. We thought we'd give you just a taste of what we'll be seeing and doing while we're away:
| The Millenium Bridge to St. Paul's Cathedral |
We arrive in London on July 4, and after a sightseeing tour of this incredible city, we'll hear Evensong at St. Paul's cathedral on July 5.
| Punting on the river in Cambridge |
On July 6, we're off to Cambridge, where we'll enjoy a guided walking tour in the morning. That afternoon, we'll present our first concert in the U.K., at Great St. Mary's, the University Church.
The pace doesn't slow down a bit, as Tuesday, July 7, brings us to Bristol for our second performance in the magnificent Bristol Cathedral. Click here to read more about this historic cathedral.
Eliza's family hosted a singer from the Chepstow Male Voice Choir when she was growing up, and they've stayed in contact all these years. That connection translates to an amazing opportunity for us to collaborate in a joint concert with the Chepstow Male Voice Choir, in Chepstow's beautiful castle dating from 1067! Read more about Chepstow Castle here.
We cross the border from England to Wales on July 9, and begin our incredible experience as participants in the International Musical Eisteddfod in Llangollen. We'll compete in the Folk Choirs category on July 10 with a program of "two choral arrangements of well-contrasted folk songs of the singers' own country, performed in a classical manner," and no more than six minutes' duration. On Saturday morning, July 11, we'll compete in the Female Choirs category, when we'll sing "a contrasting programme of up to 12 minutes of music which must include at least one unaccompanied work and one original work composed by a composer from the choir's native country." We'll attend the Choir of the World Concert on Saturday night, July 11, before returning home on July 12--unless, of course, we WIN the Female Choirs competition and are PERFORMING in Choir of the World!
Come to our concerts on May 30 and 31, and perhaps Eliza will reveal our competition pieces.
