At fifteen, Joseph* injured his hand at football practice and had to have surgery. His mother, Sara*, was concerned about the extra medical expenses, gas expenses and the loss of income from her job cleaning houses while getting Joseph to and from rehab for his hand. She came into Community Storehouse seeking assistance and was given a 3 month food voucher, utility assistance and registered for our Seasonal Programs. During treatment for this injury, Joseph was diagnosed with a rare cancer. Joseph has had three major surgeries so far and faces weekly chemo treatments. Every third treatment, Joseph needs to be hospitalized overnight. The prognosis is not good. Sara has moved her sister in to the house so an adult is with her other children while Sara is in the hospital with Joseph. The Community Storehouse has continued to assist Joseph's family with food, clothing, utility assistance and Seasonal Programs. Additionally, our Case Management team was able to help Sara find resources to deal with crisis issues (depression/family grief counseling, financial assistance, budgeting, etc.) through several of our wonderful church partners. Please continue to keep Joseph and his family in your prayers during this difficult time. *Client's name has been changed to maintain her privacy.

Summer Lunch Program to feed 1,200+ Kids!!
Children who normally rely on the free-and-reduced breakfast and lunch program through their schools often suffer during the summer months with food insecurity. With the support of our awesome donors and volunteers, we work together to create boxes of kid-friendly food which are distributed to children in need each month during the summer from our food pantry. This summer, over 1,200 kids will benefit from our Summer Lunch Program! Thank you for helping us in our mission to provide for the well-being and educational needs of our kids in this community!
