VITICULTURE CLUB FALL HARVEST BBQ
Friday, November 13, 2015 at Wolf Lakes  5 pm-10 pm
 
Buy your tickets for the Annual Viticulture Club Fall Harvest BBQ fundraiser before they sell out!  Tickets include a steak and shrimp dinner, hosted wine and beer bar, and live and silent auctions featuring beautiful furniture and items made from wine barrels, handmade made by students and club members.

Help support the Viticulture Club by attending and/or giving a donation. They are a non profit organization and the money raised from this helps the club pay for activities throughout the year.  It has been a sold out event for the last couple of years, so get your tickets fast. Student tickets are $30 and $40 for the general public. If you would like to guarantee a table for your group, a reserved table for 8 can be purchased for $335.   Email:  [email protected]

FRESNO STATE WINE WEEKEND IN THE WOODS
Saturday, November 7 at the Narrow Gauge Inn

Fresno State's award-winning wines will take center stage on Nov. 7 at the second annual Fresno State Winemaker's Dinner at the Narrow Gauge Inn in Fish Camp, near the south entrance to Yosemite National Park.  Tickets for Saturday night's dinner include a reception and five-course gourmet meal featuring Fresno State wines.

Two-night packages are also available and include an evening under the starts with Fresno State winemaker Matt Brain, a morning ride on the historic Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad steam train, and the Saturday night gourmet dinner.

VITICULTURE & ENOLOGY CAREER FAIR
Employer Career Fair Pre-Registration:  November 20

Ready to meet one of your future employees?  Register online to attend our annual Viticulture & Enology Internship & Career Fair that will be held on February 17, 2016 at the Department of Viticulture & Enology. 

The primary purpose of this unique event is to provide opportunities for students and employers in the grape and wine industry to connect. Employers may provide information regarding a wide range of viticulture and enology jobs and/or internships.

To help prepare our students for the Career Fair, several experienced alumni and industry colleagues will also be available to meet one-on-one with our students during our annual Resume Workshop on December 3. If you are interested in participating, please contact Cynthia Wood.

October 2015

Fresno State Magazine.  Our viticulture and enology program and several of our viticulture and enology including Bo Barrett, Ondine Chattan, and Eric Gallegos are featured in the latest issue. 

The V. E. Petrucci Library received a $40,000 gift from proceeds raised at "The Taste of Vino" event in August, 2015.  Read more about the October 23 check presentation by Chuck & Jen Van Fleet of Vino & Friends.

On October 16, the Fresno State Winery presented "Flavors of Fall" on the viticulture and enology lawn.  Read more

The "Great Grape" on October 10 was a Madden Library "Farm to Fork"event held in conjunction with the V. E. Petrucci Library and the Department of Viticulture and Enology.  The community enjoyed learning about grapes, raisins, and wine.  Thanks to our sponsors!  Read more

Message from the Jordan College of Ag
In response to the two recent faculty vacancies in our department, we want to assure everyone that the Jordan College and the University are committed to the viticulture and enology program and have already begun preliminary steps to fill these positions.  The tremendous strength of the program and the strong support of industry partners will carry us through this transition.  Thank you.

In the Meantime
Plans for an Interim Chair for the Department of Viticulture & Enology Chair are underway and will be announced upon University approval. This appointment is expected to commence in January when the the spring 2016 semester begins.

 Dr. Mickey Paggi has been appointed as the Interim Director of the Viticulture & Enology Research Center.  He is the Associate Dean for Research for the Jordan College and is also the Director of the Institute for Food & Agriculture.
