Your KEA Bargaining Team presented most of the full proposal on May 3. The KEA proposal was a comprehensive package consisting of language that addressed competitive compensation and benefits, more teacher-directed time, and relief in workload responsibilities. This proposal reflected over 1,000 interviews and the answers from 800 surveys given by KEA members.
The district team presented a partial proposal that consisted of more required meetings, more principal-directed time, and a reversal of the classroom move language that was decided in arbitration. The hired lawyer who is serving as the lead negotiator for the district has communicated that these proposals were a result surveying principals, central office administrators, and staff who provide support for district-wide functions like payroll and HR.
Your KEA bargaining team will be back at the table on May 11th. We look forward to a counter-proposal from the district on May 18th.
