Church of the Intercession
to hold final Eucharist
August 22, 2014

Dear Friends,

As your Bishop, I am charged with the responsibility of creating new congregations and, on rare occasion, of announcing that a congregation is closing because they no longer can sustain her ministry. To that end, I wish to inform you that the Church of the Intercession, Ft. Lauderdale, will hold her last service on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at 10 a.m. Since the founding of the Church of the Intercession in 1957, continuous Episcopal services have been held for thousands of people seeking Jesus Christ. However, after many years of a struggling ministry, it is time to conclude the ministry at the Church of the Intercession.

Intercession has a history of actively engaging the surrounding community as well as Broward County and beyond with creative, vibrant, and spiritually enriching ministries. The six decades of faithful ministry have represented all of life's joyful and tearful phases: children have been baptized and confirmed, weddings have been celebrated, family and friends have been buried loved ones, and all the seasonal festivals of the church year have formed the life memories of countless generations. Unfortunately, the past few years have seen Intercession's ministries decline precipitously. It is now time to Celebrate what has taken place in the past and to look forward to Intercession's leadership joining the ministries of other congregations.

The final Eucharist will be held at the Church of the Intercession, 507 NW 17 Street, Ft. Lauderdale, on Sunday, August 31, at 10 a.m. The Celebrants will be Archdeacon Tom Bruttell and the Rev. Mark Sims, who will serve on my behalf. It is important to note that the Intercession Food Pantry will continue serving the Ft. Lauderdale community for many months to come.

I pray that many of you will be able to attend and Celebrate the mighty works of God that have taken place at this place.

Blessings,

The Right Reverend Leo Frade, D. D.

Bishop of the Diocese Southeast Florida
