Students Learn about Smithsonian Internship Opportunities

Last year the Smithsonian hosted 6 students from the "Bridges to Independence" (b2i) Youth Leadership Development Program; we are excited to continue this program this year by hosting another cohort. On Thursday 2/12/15 Smithsonian Fellowships and Internships Program Specialist Karen Carter met b2i students interested in the Smithsonian.

The b2i Youth Leadership Academy, located in Arlington, VA provides programs aimed at inspiring youth to develop personal goals and experience success. You can read more about this program here.

Smithsonian at George Mason

George Mason University learn about Smithsonian opportunities for research and study on 2/12/15

Last week representatives from the Smithsonian Office of Human Resources (OHR) and the Smithsonian Office of Fellowships and Internships (OFI) attended the George Mason University Arts in the Real World Career Fair.

During the event GMU students were able to learn about the range of internship and fellowship opportuniities at the Smithsonian.

Archives of American Art Internships

The Smithsonian Archives of American Art (AAA) is currently accepting applications for its summer 2015 internship program.

This program provides opportunities for students who wish to learn and gain professional experience related to various fields such as archival science, information management, museum studies, art administration, art history, and cultural studies.

The application deadline for summer internships is Wednesday 2/25/15. To find out more, go here.

Museum Conservation Institute Internships

The Smithsonian Museum Conservation Institute (MCI) is currently accepting applications for a variety of internship positions.

Among these is a position for a student with graduate-level experience/training in archives, records, and information management and an interest in materials science or conservation to assist with the organization of MCI's Mecklenburg Materials Archive.

In addition, MCI is offering a variety of other short-term internship opportunities to work on research and conservation projects with staff members.

The National Museum of American History (NMAH) is currently accepting applications for a variety of summer internship opportunities. These include opportunities to learn about Archival Science, Curatorial Projects, Exhibition Design and Graphic Production, Museum Management, Education, Digital Outreach and more!

Smithsonian Libraries Summer Internships

The Smithsonian Libraries (SIL) is currently accepting applications for its 2015 Professional Development Internship Program, which gives students in a Master of Library Science (MLA) or related graduate programs the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge while working in the worlds' largest museum library system!

The application deadline for this program is Sunday March 1, 2015.
