Allen's Farm  Allen's Farm - New Kent County

Clint Allen begins growing a wide range of produce in late winter in his three greenhouses. Later the seedlings are transplanted into the almost 100 acres that he farms. 17 of these acres have been family owned since his father began the farm in 1945.

At the age of eleven Clint began helping his dad. He worked in an automotive body shop before returning to farming. Today Clint gets assistance from his mother, his brother, Christy Wilkerson and two young cousins Kyle and Joey. His mother shells pecans from their trees to send to the market as well as working in the greenhouses.

Clint grows grain and pumpkins on a large scale. Anyone who has been to Pumpkinville in Toano has seen the fields of pumpkins that he raises.

When asked his favorite vegetable, Clint says he loves to grow tomatoes.

When he isn't farming, Clint enjoys collecting Civil War items. Living just five miles from the land his family first settled in 1642 has given him a sense of belonging to the land.
