  Cooked
by Michael Pollan

Pollan's new book Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation, is about cooking.  His thesis is that "cooking involves us in a web of social and ecological relationships: with plants and animals, the soil, farmers, our history and culture, and, of course, the people our cooking nourishes and delights."
Look around at the farmers market, just by shopping for the food that we will cook, we are connecting with each other.
WFM VOTED TOPS

HR Magazine Award

Hampton Roads Magazine readers voted the WFM as the top farmers market in all of

Hampton Roads.

Virginia Living readers voted the market as the Best Farmers' Market in Eastern Virginia!

Thank you to all of the Williamsburg Farmers Market  customers who voted in both of

these contests.

Bring Your Children To The Market

Children can be seen everywhere at the market.  They are brought in strollers, they dance while the musicians play, they talk to the farmers and are amazed by the beautiful flowers.

An article in Eat Local Grown lists 10 Reasons to Bring Your Kids to the Farmers Market which includes introducing them to new foods.  Kohlrabi might be new to both adults and children.  It is crunchy and refreshing like an apple, which makes a nice addition to salads.

Gardening with Children will be the theme for the exhibit this Saturday for the Master Gardeners.
