ATTENTION ALL SERVICE COORDINATORS

Kaleidoscope is on Facebook

For many years, VA service coordinators, especially after attending Kaleidoscope trainings, have talked about how valuable it would be to have a place where they could stay in touch and share resources and ideas. Thanks to the initiative of Nathesha Bull, a recent Kaleidoscope graduate and Parent-Infant Program on the Shore (PIPS) SC and Developmental Specialist, a new Facebook page just for service coordinators has been created.

NOVEMBER 2014

The Integrated Training Collaborative (ITC) coordinates Virginia's Comprehensive System of Personnel Development (CSPD) which is the professional development system for early interventionists who provide supports and services to eligible children and families under Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

featureMONTHLY FEATURED TOPIC - Families Struggling with Limited Resources

As early interventionists, all of us have interacted with families who are struggling with limited resources.  These may include those who are experiencing inadequate housing or homelessness, lack of transportation, or difficulty making the monthly income stretch for necessities such as food or diapers.

Based on feedback from early interventionists across the state, the Virginia Early Intervention Professional Development (VEIPD) Center has a new page, Children and Families in Need, that focuses on resources to support providers as they interact with families who may be experiencing poverty, homelessness or abuse/neglect.
Check it out.

Kaleidoscope: New Perspectives in Service Coordination, Levels I and II are required professional development trainings for all new service coordinators (although all are invited!) Trainings are held twice per year in cadres (KI and KII occurring in same location, one month apart) so that service coordinators have the opportunity to learn with each other for both Kaleidoscope sessions. Spring Kaleidoscope sessions take place in the Valley region during March (KI)/April (KII). Fall Kaleidoscope sessions are scheduled in the Richmond region during September (KI)/ October (KII).

Spring KI and KII will be scheduled and open for registration in January 2015. Click here for more details and updates.

 TALKS ON TUESDAYS

Talks on Tuesdays (ToTs) are one-hour webinars designed to provide free online training opportunities related to important topics in early intervention. Topics chosen for the Talks on Tuesdays webinar series are based on feedback from EI practitioners about what they need to know more about! ToTs are held on the first Tuesday of the month from 12:00-1:00PM.
