DESCRIPTION:

 

The presenters in this webinar will discuss the characteristics of Down syndrome and its relationship to motor, feeding and language comprehension and communication skills. The use of sign language as a bridge to verbal communication and the reasons for its success with children with Down syndrome will also be explored. Strategies will be shared regarding ways to help parents create learning opportunities to promote developmental progress.  

MEET THE PRESENTERS:
 
 
Beth Cooper, M.S., CCC-SLP, is a speech language pathologist at Rehabilitation Associates. She has been working in early intervention for 22 years. Beth has a special interest in Down syndrome and is an active participant on the "Buddy Cruise", a yearly cruise for families who have a family member with Down syndrome.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tracy Miller, MHS,OTR / L, is the co-owner and director of Rehabilitation Associates, P.C., a private practice that provides early intervention, school system, and outpatient services throughout the state of Virginia. Tracy has provided early intervention services to children and families with Down syndrome for many years. Her expertise is in the area of assisting families to identify and develop strategies for feeding, sleeping, and participating in the activities that are most important to them.
