HOOK ORGAN DEDICATION AT HAMMOND STREET CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH
NOV. 20

All members and friends of the Maine Conference are cordially invited to attend the dedicatory concert of the E. and G.G. Hook pipe organ at Hammond Street Congregational Church, UCC on Sunday, November 20, 2016, at 3:00 PM. The church is located at 28 High Street (the corner of Hammond and High Streets) in Bangor. The recitalist will be Dr. Kevin Birch, Music Director of the St. John's Catholic Church in Bangor.

When Hammond Street was remodeled in 1854, a tracker organ--Hook Opus 159 --was installed. A hundred years later, that instrument was replaced with an electronic organ. Thanks to a generous bequest from the estate of Dr. Waldo "Mac" Libbey, HSCC purchased an 1861 Hook pipe organ, Opus 304 from the New Hope Baptist Church in Boston-saving it from destruction. This two manual organ of 1700 pipes, dedicated to the memory of the Libbbey-McClure family, has been renovated and installed by A. David Moore, Inc., of Pomfret, Vermont   The Rev. Dr. Mark Allen Doty is the Senior Pastor of Hammond Street Church.

Empowering Musicians - Transforming Communities

Dear Church Musicians and Clergy,

We invite you to join us in Boston for the 2017 UCCMA National Conference from July 9-12 where we will learn, sing, ring, worship and delight in this city that is rich with history and diversity.

The biannual UCCMA summer conference seeks to nourish, inspire, and sustain church musicians.  Attendees have the opportunity to sing in choir and play hand bells with incredible conductors; to worship in a variety of styles with our dedicated clergy partners; to learn in master classes, workshops, and reading sessions; and to be energized by concerts and fellowship with peers.

Please make plans to join us in Boston next summer!

in faith,
