Substance Abuse Common Among Street Children In Low-Income Countries 

A new study conducted by researchers from Indiana University School of Medicine found that substance abuse was most common among street children in low-income countries.

 

Insurance coverage sought for mental, substance-abuse care

New Jersey residents are being wrongly denied insurance for inpatient treatment for substance abuse and mental illnesses, forcing them to choose between paying for expensive care or being put on the streets, a group of patients, family members, and health-care providers told a legislative committee.

 

Young Children's Personality Traits Linked to Teen Alcohol Use

A child's personality traits before age 5 may help predict whether they will use alcohol in adolescence, a new study suggests.

 

Iowa agents participated in nationwide synthetic drug raid

 More than a dozen Iowa drug agents participated in a nationwide sweep Wednesday of suspected distributors of synthetic drugs, state officials said Thursday. 

The operation, called "Project Synergy" was described as the largest-ever crackdown on those who make and sell the synthetic drugs.

The former Dalton's Pub and Road Show Video buildings in downtown Sioux City are getting closer to demolition as site preparation continues for the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City, a release said Thursday.
 

Efforts to take the buffet at the Isle Casino Hotel Waterloo in a "fresh" direction were unveiled Monday.

The gathering marked the debut of Farmer's Pick Buffet, which showcases fresh, local ingredients.

"Before, 70 to 80 percent of our food came to us frozen," said Thomas Roberts, senior director of hospitality operations. "Now, 95 to 97 percent is fresh, cooked onsite."
