BASKETBALL NEWS

It's been a busy spring for the Lady Panthers Girls Basketball.

Paul VI Girls Basketball Season Recap

The PVI Girls Varsity Basketball team capped off their historical 2012-2013 season with winning their seventh consecutive VISAA Division I State Championship Saturday defeating Liberty Christian 73-53 in the finals at the Wakefield School in Plains, VA.  The #1 seeded Lady Panthers defeated Ireton in the quarter-finals Wednesday and St. Annes Belfield Friday in the semi's.  The win ended an amazing season for the girls who ended with a girls basketball school record of 29-4.  The Lady Panthers also finished tied for second in the WCAC regular season and third overall in the league.  During the year, PVI started the season 23-0 and was ranked as high as #6 in the USA Today Nationally, top ten in ESPN National Girls Basketball Rankings, Top ten in Max Preps National Rankings as well as # 1 in the Washington Post, and # 1 in the state of VA.  PVI will finish ranked in the Top 20 nationally in all of these polls as well as top 5 in the Washington Post and top three in DC Sports Fan.  A very special way to send all nine seniors out on top with a win in their last game and cap off a legacy that will be hard to replace.  The support of the parents, fans, and school community was second to none this year and we cannot thank everyone enough for all of their support.
