Merry Christmas Friends!  Go tell it on the mountain! We all have something joyful to shout about.  Each Christmas season families gather together to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus. I have so much to be thankful for, my Savior, my family, my Church, community and all of you, just to name a few.  And yes, there's my pets; I am thankful for their companionship and their loyalty.

With the holidays upon us I am also thankful for two of my favorite places, and I call them both my home away from home.

I've read that Bass Pro Shops is the number one tourist destination in the states in which they reside.  And, did you know I once worked as an elf at Santa's Wonderland giving old Santa a helping hand in the Broken Arrow, Oklahoma store?

Cracker Barrel is my other home away from home and I often joke I could wallpaper the office in my Cracker Barrel receipts.  With over 70,000 employees and an average of 6,700 visitors a week in their 620 stores, I'd say that there are more people than just me that consider Cracker Barrel their home away from home.

Recently I had the opportunity to sit down with Herman Meister and John Johnston at my home Cracker Barrel in Alma, Arkansas and enjoy a more intimate look at what makes Cracker Barrel tick.  I encourage you to read more about it in this month's newsletter and enjoy a friendly dinner by the fire at your local Cracker Barrel, too.

Peaceful wishes and a very merry Christmas,

                                                                      Happy

If the World Had a Front Porch

"If the world had a front porch like we did back then,
We'd still have our problems, but we'd all be friends.
Treatin' your neighbor like he's your next of kin,
Wouldn't be gone with the wind.
If the world had a front porch like we did back then."
Tracy Lawrence

Just what is it about Cracker Barrel that makes you feel special as soon as you walk through the doors? Alma Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, General Manager Herman Meister says,  "It's about the experience, the front porch, the antiques, and the rockers made by the Hinkle family."

Herman also says, "It's as much about the experience as it is about the food."  I agree wholeheartedly.  Although I'll admit it's always a good time to go to Cracker Barrel, my favorite time to go  Read More

Then the Angel said to them,
"Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.   For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. "

Ronald Reagan's Christmas Message 1981

"On Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Christ with prayer, feasting, and great merriment. But, most of all, we experience it in our hearts. For, more than just a day, Christmas is a state of mind. It is found throughout the year whenever faith overcomes doubt, hope conquers despair, and love triumphs over hate. It is present when men of any creed bring love and understanding to the hearts of their fellow man. The feeling is seen in the wondrous faces of children and in the hopeful eyes of the aged. It overflows the hearts of cheerful givers and the souls."
