From the Acting Director
It's official!!! Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed the IJF Foundation Act into law in late August. The Act allows Illinois Joining Forces to build upon the amazing work our partner organizations have been doing for the past two years by providing IJF with additional flexibility and tools to support you and the military and veteran community. As a result, the IDVA is a proud supporter of the Illinois Joining Forces Foundation.
On September 3rd, in accordance with the IJF Foundation Act, the newly formed Board of Directors selected its leadership and adopted the Articles of Incorporation. Upon filing with the Secretary of State of Illinois, IJF will become the public not-for-profit organization that can continue to serve our veterans, service members, and their families with greater momentum.
In the weeks ahead, IJF will establish its organizational by-laws, compile annual reports for FY 2013 and FY 2014 [to showcase our amazing work], and draft operating policies. In the months ahead, we plan to hire an Executive Director, add value-based programming for our members, perform web upgrades, institute operational processes, and construct a long-term strategic plan. We will be sure to share additional information and details in coming newsletters, but this all means that IJF will have more robust capabilities in the future to provide support to our veterans, military and their families - all across Illinois.
