From Rodrigo Garcia, Assistant Director, IDVA:

Vet Owned Businesses

Exceptional Business Opportunity for Veteran-Owned Companies!

I'm writing to notify you of an exceptional opportunity for qualified veteran-owned businesses to grow revenues, build capacity and secure high-level contracts by doing business with the State of Illinois.

WHAT IS THE VETERAN BUSINESS PROGRAM?

Through the Veterans Business Program (VBP), state agencies and universities are encouraged to spend at least 3% of their procurement budgets with certified veteran-owned businesses.  That equates to over $300 million in state contracts that are specifically targeted to veteran-owned firms every year.

State contracting covers everything from construction and building repairs, to building maintenance, office supplies, upkeep for state parks, and a variety of other needed services.  Eligible businesses include companies with annual gross sales under $75 million that are 51% owned by one or more qualified veteran(s) or qualified service-disabled veteran(s) living in Illinois.  Veteran-owned businesses can apply today by completing two easy steps:

1.  Registering their business with the Illinois Procurement Bulletin

2.  Submitting an application

For assistance with the application process, call Illinois Central Management Services at 1-312-814-4190 or email [email protected].

If you are already registered and are doing business with the State of Illinois, or if you are not a veteran-business owner, what can you do to help?

This is a chance to give back to the men and women in uniform who served our nation while encouraging more mutually beneficial partnerships between the state and private businesses.  Please distribute this message and/or the attached flyer to your contacts, colleagues and friends via email, social media, etc. To that end, please let us know if we can count on you!

Thank you for your time and support,

Sincerely,

Rodrigo

Set Your Career in Motion

with

Advanced Manufacturing

The Illinois manufacturing sector is in dire need of skilled workers. There are jobs to be had  -- experts estimate that Illinois manufacturers currently have over 30,000 jobs open for trained workers. Military veterans, National Guard and Reserve personnel are in a unique position to meet this demand, and the Mission: Military 2 Manufacturing (MM2M) initiative is intended to help facilitate the transition.

The upcoming MM2M Fair in Pekin, IL, on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for veterans, National Guard and Reserve members to learn about available jobs, salaries and career paths in advanced manufacturing and logistics.

The event is free, and attendees will have the chance to meet with job-ready employers in the Peoria area, to network with training experts and like-minded professionals, and to meet fellow service members who have already made the transition to civilian positions.
