With Deep Sadness

It is with deep sadness that we announce the January 29th death of Rev. Sherrill Page. Sherrill became unexpectedly ill last night and died at the hospital early this morning. Rector of Church of the Ascension in Lexington Park, MD at the time of her death, Sherrill had previously served in this Diocese at St. Barnabas, Temple Hills; St. Mary Magdalene, Aspen Hill; on the 8th Bishop's Search Committee; on the Camp EDOW staff; and on the COM. Sherrill was a lively spirit and spread God's love in the most joyous of ways. She was adored and will be missed. Please pray for her husband, Bill; their children, Rebecca, Mary Catherine, and Daniel; their grandchildren, Madelyn, Charlotte, and Sammy; and her parish family. Funeral arrangements are pending as family is still gathering.

One evening the group of 25 or so listened in rapt silence as Santos told his story- the arduous desert crossing in the black of night, hovering helicopters with searchlights and men with dogs, a fearful scattering and then suddenly before him...a cleft in the rock. Spur, Arouse, Excite, and Provoke
It was usually around Erie, Pennsylvania that we "got it." At about five and-a-half hours in, we had exhausted practically every level of restraint. Then came that look that only a parent can give a child that wordlessly expresses such displeasure as to interrupt interrogation, silence complaint, or return hands to oneself with blistering speed. Or, most usually in the case of my siblings-on the drive from Cincinnati, Ohio to Hamburg, New York for the annual summer trek to our grandparents-upending the attempts by two of us at provoking the third to the point of meltdown.
