St. John School Robotics Club to attend Robotics Extravaganza! at Seattle Preparatory School on Saturday, May 2. Free to attend.
Dear Families, I know that those of you who participated in Family Math Night (and that was a huge number!), will want to join me in thanking Ms. Gudaitis and Mrs. Brumback for their leadership and organization of this arithmetical event. We thank also the teachers who supported them!
I extend a huge thank you also to Ms. Sullivan and Mrs. Halley, who are organizing prayers and a fundraiser for Nepal. Check under the seat cushions, on the floor of the car, and at the bottom of your pockets and handbags and send in the change to St. John. "Nickels for Nepal" begins immediately and runs all through next week! We will of course also collect $bills for Nepal! What a very fine team we have here at St. John!
Speaking of our fine team, we will be saying goodbye to Mrs. Kathy Kelly who is retiring this year. Mrs. Kelly, our queen, has been at St. John for 24 years and teaching for 43 years in Catholic education. She is loved by generations of students and their families! Please mark your calendars for the 10:30 Mass on June 7 when Fr. Crispin will bless Mrs. Kelly and we will celebrate her dedication to education in Egan Hall following the Mass. You may have noticed Mrs. Abby Mansfield meeting with Mrs. Kelly from time to time! Mrs. Mansfield will become the new third grade teacher. Having spent a number of years assisting and teaching the second graders, she is very familiar with our students and their abilities. Mrs. Mansfield holds a BA in Christian Education/Theology and she completed her teaching degree earlier this year. With the graduation of the three eighth grades classes we have an opportunity to expand our diverse learner program and advance our mission of serving all students. Mrs. Adrey Ocampo, who majored in Special Education and holds a Master's in Gifted Education, will step out of a fifth grade classroom to become our third learning specialist. Mrs. Macaulay, also ready for a new and invigorating experience, will teach the fifth grade along with Ms. Kelley.
This weekend, our second grade students will receive First Holy Communion at the Saturday vigil and the 10:30 Sunday Mass. They and their families have been preparing for this moment for a while now. I wish them the very best. Best wishes also to our Robotics team who will be presenting at the Robotics Extravaganza at Seattle Prep on Saturday morning at 9:00 am! You are welcome to go and cheer them on and enjoy all fun! Read the announcements below for opportunities for your children to exercise and express their artistic talents! Tomorrow, we celebrate Mary, the Mother of God. The Rosary begins at 9:30am. God Bless, Bernadette O'Leary, Principal |
