Students acknowledge the 10th Anniversary of the passing of Officer Jackson Lone.

Dear Families,

It was grand to see so much green this week! I felt so proud of my Irish culture when I saw our students marching in the St. Patrick's Day Parade and dancing at the Irish Festival. Thank you, Mr. Flanagan, for once again bringing your bagpiper friends to help us celebrate St. Patrick's Day!

Mercy and goodness flourish at St. John!  The children have been very moved by Fr. Crispin's challenges with the loss of his friend and the attack on his nieces. They wrote him beautiful letters of sympathy and consolation. They are organizing fund-raisers to help his nieces replace their stolen belongings. The faculty held an informal clothing exchange and purchased each other's 'hand-me-downs'. Thank you for your support and encouragement of all these efforts and please continue to pray for Fr. Crispin and his family.

It is countdown to the Auction. Conversations about our makeovers as we plan to dress in 60's outfits and Egan Hall's makeover are being heard around the grounds! We are all very excited about our Fund-a-Need! In addition to landscaping to make the building more inviting, the cafeteria in Egan Hall will get a new coat of paint, new chairs, and a new accordion divider. And if we meet our goal we will explore improving sound quality in the space. Plan ahead for Friday evening's events as the cocktail hour begins at 5pm. Tickets are still available. We want you there! Don't forget beer and wine is included in your ticket price. Online bidding starts Monday. Have you created a wish list of your favorite items?

This week marks the 10-year anniversary of the passing of Seattle Police officer Jackson Lone. Officer Lone was a 1980 graduate of St. John School.  St. John families, along with Seattle Police, donated time and funds to dedicate a playground in his honor in September of 2006.  Join me in offering prayers of continued support to the Lone family.

Today is report card day.  Don't forget to ask your child for his or her report card today!  Enjoy the long weekend - teachers will be in school tomorrow!
