Sneak Preview of Bye Bye Birdie, Jr!
Dear Families,
Light the lights! Raise the curtain! It is opening night for the Middle School Musical, Bye Bye Birdie, Jr.! Be prepared to jump back in time to the swingin' 60s and enjoy a fabulous evening. We extend a huge shout-out to Katie Franklin and her cast and crew! "Break a leg!" The musical will set you in the right time frame for the auction, Mad for St. John. You may even get some costume ideas! Go online and reserve your tickets and be sure to invite friends and relatives. We have lots of space this year and we need a huge turn out!
Thank you to the kindergarten and eighth grade families for the delicious soup last weekend. Our Lenten Soup Suppers are not too much of a sacrifice at all with such tasty bowls! However, it was brought to my notice that last week during the Soup Supper, some students were observed in the locked play-pit. To get in they must have climbed over the fence! We request that you monitor your children carefully when they are here with you during non-school hours. The teachers are not in charge then and are often here to participate as parents and parishioners themselves. We also ask that at the end of the school day, parents and students refrain from ball-play on the playground as young children and families are trying to navigate that area. The play-pit is open from 3:00 - 3:15 for children whose parents are monitoring them. There is no teacher on duty for that general area. Thank you for your cooperation as we strive to keep everyone safe and to respect school and parish facilities.
The second trimester ends on March 13th. Report cards will be sent home on March 19th. Parents of students in grades 5 - 8, remember that you can go online and check your children's assignments and grades. Encourage them to sit with you and make sure that all assignments are turned in before the cut-off date.
March 17th is St. Patrick's Day. Mr. Flanagan will once again be here bright and early with his bagpipes to 'pipe' us into school! I declare that all students are Irish for the day and may participate in the wearin' of the green!
Our Lenten journey continues, leading us to a deeper understanding of the message of Jesus as we consciously make a more steadfast effort to pray, fast and share with those less fortunate than ourselves.
Beannacht,
Bernadette O'Leary, Principal
