Principal's Letter

Dear Parents,

Hopefully, you rested well over the long weekend. We are gearing up now for the long run into Easter. Ash Wednesday, Lent, end of the second trimester, Science Fair, the Auction are just a few of the events before us. They may seem a long way off, but we must be prepared.

Over the next two weeks, we will prepare for Lent, which begins on March 5th.   Plan now to attend the Stations of the Cross and the Soup Suppers.   Also begin the discussion about making the extra effort to attend Mass each Sunday during Lent and to pray more as a family.

Have you procured your items for the Auction?   This morning, Mrs. Sorrick reminded me that it is just six weeks away. I am very excited about the plans for Friday night and as I sit here with the wind blowing through the window, I look forward to huge bids on the Fund-a-Need so that we can HEAL MY PANE!

The approach to the end of the trimester and report card time provides you with a good opportunity to have your child do a self-reflection. How does your child feel about school - socially, emotionally and academically? How would your child fill out his/her own report card?

Congratulations to our eighth graders who were accepted into public, private,  Catholic high schools!  I have not received all the news of honors, but I know that all twelve students who applied to Holy Names Academy were accepted with eight of the girls receiving scholarship and honors!   Many of the applicants were also accepted to O'Dea, Bishop Blanchet High School, and Seattle Preparatory Academy.   As we all celebrate the students' successes, I want to acknowledge the partnership of parents and teachers including our primary team, where the foundations were laid through to the intermediate and middle school teachers and specialists, where the learning was solidified and strengthened. Well done, team!

Beannacht,

 The Dirt Is Coming!!

 Saturday, February 22

Thank you to everyone who has already signed up to help us move over 15 yards of dirt this Saturday into the raised beds in the Eagles' Nest - there are still spots available for two hour shifts from 9am to 3pm!

Many hands will definitely make light work.

We could really use a couple extra wheelbarrows to help us move all this dirt.  If you have one for us to borrow, please email Maureen Rimkus at [email protected]

Please bring work gloves, shovels, rakes and wheelbarrows and help kick off the spring season of the Eagles' Nest.
