Dear Families, Catholic Schools Week continues to be a wonderful celebration of community, faith service and knowledge. On Sunday, your presence, the choirs, the musicians, lectors and readers made the Mass so joyous. During the week the students have been gathering food, writing thanks you letters to our community members and becoming aware of the power of service and stewardship. Today, the school is radiant with flowers and lunch is prepared for us; we, faculty and staff members, feel so appreciated. Tomorrow is Purple and Gold Spirit Day! Purple and gold will take the place of blue and green for a while, as the eagle joins the hawk and the teachers compete with the eighth graders! Today, parents of students in grades three through eight will receive progress reports. Both the STAR reading reports and the progress reports are very positive. Students are showing steady improvements and meeting the standards. If you have any questions about the reports, please call us and set up an appointment to meet with the teacher. At the State of the School meeting next week, you will hear more details on the progress we have made towards meeting our five-year plan goals and our accreditation targets. Attendance at this meeting is mandatory for all parents. We give you three opportunities so you have no excuse! At the meeting you will receive your registration packet for next year. Meeting times are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (new parents) at 7:00pm and are intended for adults. See you there! If you have not already done so, do plan to attend the Auction Wine Tasting Party. Some space is still available! Don't miss out on the chance to help select the wine for the Auction! See below for registration information. Fr. Crispin visited classes this morning and reminded the students that they should wear their Seahawks attire to Mass on Sunday! Go Hawks!

THE DIRT IS COMING! We are getting over 15 yards of dirt delivered. On Saturday, February 22, we need a lot of strong muscles to help us get the dirt from the parking lot into the raised beds in the Eagles' Nest.
We'll have three shifts of two hours each for teams to load wheelbarrows, cart, dump, and spread the dirt. Are you a seventh or eighth grader in need of service hours? Or do you know one? This work party is for you! No experience necessary, just a willingness to help! You don't have to come for the whole two hours, we'll take any time that you can spare.
Please bring work gloves, shovels, rakes and wheelbarrows (if you have them) and help kick off the spring season of the Eagles' Nest.

"I attend St. John School. I like St. John School because I have nice friends that care for me. I also have teachers that care for me. The friends that I have are cheerful and play with me. The people I find hard to like sometimes invite me to play with them. Everybody is kind to others at St. John School."James, Grade 2
