Principal's Letter

We wish you all a happy and a Holy Christmas. May the light of Christ be with you throughout the season

and the New Year!

Dear Families,

The children's Christmas programs generated so much joy!   We all responded with wonder and awe as the children sang with so much fervor.   Our fine teachers and students showered us with delightful Christmas spirit!

You are invited to the first trimester awards assemblies on Friday, December 20. The Primary assembly will be held in the portables at 8:30. It will begin with Advent prayer and then eligible students will receive awards for following the Habits of Mind and managing their impulsivity! The Intermediate and Middle School students will assemble at 11:00 in Egan Hall. Again we will begin with prayer. Qualified students will receive Eagle and Habits of Mind awards. Academic Honor awards will be handed out in the classrooms.  School will be dismissed on Friday, December 20 at noon.

We have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him. Celebrate the birth of Jesus at Mass on Tuesday, December 24 and/or Wednesday, December 25. Come to the Children's Vigil Mass and hear Schola at 4pm. Cantionis Choir will sing at the Vigil Mass at 6pm.  Later on you may attend the Christmas Mass at 9pm. Christmas Day Mass will be at 9am, Wednesday, December 25.

Has your child lost a jacket or a sweater? I encourage you to go to the west school hallway and search through the lost and found. We have coats, hats, shoes, uniforms, lunch bags, water bottles. Here is an idea for your list of New Year's Resolutions: LABEL the children's coats, sweaters and lunchboxes!

Nollaig Shona dhuibh! (Merry Christmas)

Emergency School Closure to refresh yourself with the procedures for closure of the school due to inclement weather or emergency.  You may access the Family Handbook on the website at www.st-johnschool.org.  The school website will have up-to-the-minute information regarding closures, on the home page.

Christmas Mass

Christmas is a special time of peace and joy when we remember the special gifts that God has given each of us. This year at our Christmas Eve Children's liturgies we will ask the children to reflect on their one most treasured gift from God. Kindness, patience, gentleness, caring, and loyalty are just some of the many possibilities.

We are so fortunate to have the Schola Choir lead us at the 4pm Mass

and the Cantionis Choir assist us in worship at the 6pm. The parish is making every effort to ensure that the masses are a joyous celebration for everyone.  For safety reasons, though, we must limit aisle congestion and restrict the attendance to roughly 600 people per mass, so please plan accordingly and have your whole family arrive early to ensure a seat.
