Principal's Letter
Dear Families,

This week, the students have been learning about and praying for our Veterans. To all of you who have served in the Armed Services, we say Thank You and God Bless You for the sacrifices and contributions you have made.

Welcome new team members! Sarah Brito-Bugge has moved to a new morning position as the assistant in first grade and Antonella Vesponi-Bartel is taking her place in the three day preschool (Monday - Wednesday) and the Extended Daycare on Thursday and Friday mornings.

The Eagles Nest Garden Committee presented at this week's faculty meeting. The beds are ready for the soil and the committee members invited the teachers to brainstorm ideas for the next projects.  Teachers of history, science, literature, and math all came up with units that fit with their studies.  The garden has so much to offer.  Thank you, committee members.

We are trying a new one-column layout in this NewsViews to facilitate those of you who use your smartphones.  We will reduce the amount of information in the sidebars by including icons that will link you to new sites/pages, for example, the calendar and NoJunk.  Please let us know if this is more helpful to you.

Continue to scroll down for all the important information about upcoming events and action items. Look for opportunities to be involved and to volunteer. Volunteering keeps you in touch with what is happening at school and is a great way to model stewardship for your children.

Financial Aid Opportunities for 2014/2015 School Year
Fulcrum Foundation

Hossfeld Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) - Fulcrum Foundation

A Fulcrum Foundation Hossfeld Tuition Assistance grant provides $1,071 towards elementary tuition.  For parish families this grant helps to bridge the difference between Fair Share pledges and the actual cost to educate; for out of parish families, the grant reduces the amount of tuition owed.

Please visit the Foundation's website for more information about this grant, and to apply for the 2014/2015 school year (not compatible with Safari). Applications are being accepted  now.  The school office must receive a hard copy of your application, along with required financial documents.  Contact Diane Crockett in the school office, with questions.  Deadline:  December 13, 2013

SMart Tuition Aid
St. John School Financial Aid to Out of Parish Families
A limited amount of aid is available to out of parish families through St. John School's financial aid program.  Aid is based on need, and families must also apply for a Fulcrum Grant to be considered for St. John School Financial Aid.  See the attached instructions.  Submit your application to Smart Tuition Aid.  Return the attached request form and all required Fulcrum Grant application documentation to the school office, attention Diane Crockett by the deadline date.  Contact Mrs. Crockett in the school office, with questions.  Deadline:  December 13, 2013
Volunteer Opportunities
VolunteerAs part of each family's Fair Share, volunteering in some capacity is vital to keeping our community vibrant and costs down.  No accounting is kept of your volunteer hours, but your participation is expected at whatever level you are able.  The level of volunteering will change as life's circumstances change.  Speak to your child's teacher, the school and development office, or the parish office to find what works for you, and respond to the call sent via email when it comes! Here are just a couple opportunities:
