Outdoor Chess at Laura's Library
If you've ever visited Laura's Library on a Monday evening, you know that Westbank visitors LOVE chess. In honor of that affection, there is now a life-size chess board in the backyard at Laura's. Now all we need are the chess pieces!
The Friends of the Westbank Library will be donating an absolutely beautiful chess set made of teak wood, but they need people to sponsor the pieces (come to the library to see what we have so far!). If you would like to sponsor a chess piece, stop by either library & make donation! Pawns start at only $100. If you don't want to sponsor a piece all by yourself, you can also get together with some friends or neighbors & sponsor one as a group.
Proceeds benefit our Friends group. The Friends of the Library thank you!

Hide. Lock. Take.
Yes, just like those signs you see at the mall, we would like to remind you to hide any valuables you leave in your car when you visit the library. We were surprised & dismayed that a smash & grab happened in the Westbank parking lot a few weeks ago - during daylight hours at a busy time of day. We hire security guards to patrol our lot, but please do take precautions to keep your valuables safe because you never know whether someone watched you leave your new iPad in the front seat.
