Both branches will be closed on Sunday, September 1st & Monday, September 2nd in honor of Labor Day.  We will re-open with normal hours on Tuesday, September 3rd.

If your family has a middle grader, you might have noticed that some of their favorite books like Harry Potter, the Warriors series, and Percy Jackson aren't in the young adult (YA) section where they used to be.  When our library first opened, youth publishing was in its infancy which meant that our young adult section catered to a wide age range of kids.

 

Youth publishing & the kids who come to the library have really grown up the past few years, so our young adult section is now filled with books for teens, which may be a bit mature for younger kids.  Your 4th graders still have just as many awesome books to read, but now the best ones for their age are in our chapter book section which caters to ages up through the middle grades.

 

Ask us if you need help or have questions or if you would like help selecting books with your child!

 

As with any public library, after 30 or 100 checkouts, some books end up looking...very well-loved.  If you check something out that has seen better days, just let us know when you return it, & we'll repair it.  There's no need to try to fix it yourself. 

 

We have materials on-hand that will help prolong the life of the book.  You might be surprised to learn that household items like regular tape or glue could actually do more damage than good.  Thanks for helping keep our books in circulation as long as possible!    

 

We are super excited to announce that we have a fun new program for elementary & middle grade kids at Laura's on Tuesdays at 4:30pm starting September 3rd.  We're calling it Discovery!  Each week, there will be a new topic that kids can explore &, hey, discover!  Actual age ranges vary for each topic, so visit our website to find out what's going on this week.  In September, enjoy the following:
