Want us to carry books in Spanish? French? Chinese?
We occasionally hear from you that you'd like to see us carry more books in languages other than English. Now is your chance to tell us about it officially. Spend 30 seconds filling out our super short survey, & tell us what's on your mind about foreign language books.

Want to talk to a high school friend of Jeffrey Dahmer?
You read that right, we're talking about the infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, & you'll have the chance to chat with his former friend & classmate Derf Backderf - author of the book My Friend Dahmer - on Wednesday, August 21st at 6:30pm at Westbank. Derf will do a virtual Q&A through Skype, so come listen to what he has to say & bring your questions.
This event is for adults but is also appropriate for teens because Derf's book is a winner of the 2013 Alex Award (an award given to adult books with teen appeal). If you've never read a graphic novel before, try this one out! It's like a prequel to the story most people know about Jeffrey Dahmer, so you may be surprised to learn there's no violence, but instead there's a general feeling of foreboding.

Did you know we repair our own books?
As with any public library, after 30 or 100 checkouts, some books end up looking...very well-loved. If you check something out that has seen better days, just let us know when you return it, & we'll repair it. There's no need to try to fix it yourself.
We have materials on-hand that will help prolong the life of the book. You might be surprised to learn that household items like regular tape or glue could actually do more damage than good. Thanks for helping keep our books in circulation as long as possible!

Got donations?
We'll take them off your hands! If you have books you would like to donate, please take them to our Westbank branch at 1309 Westbank Drive (across from Westlake High School), & leave them on the red cart in the foyer. We'll give you a donation receipt at the circulation desk if you need one.
We would kindly ask that donations not be brought to Laura's Library. We cannot accept magazine donations at this time.
Some books will be added to our collection, some will be sold in our used book room, & others are distributed to over 30 organizations in need. So nothing goes to waste! Thank you so so much for your generosity!
