Jim's Article -  Pets: Our Faithful Friends

      A little over 12 years ago Jay arrived at Houston Intercontinental Airport. I went with
Rev Dr Jim Gill
my 15 year old daughter to pick up her first puppy. When he arrived I called Anne and said, "The beagle has landed." What a blessing Jay has been to our family.

Blessing of the Animals

"All creatures of our God and King,
Lift up your voice and with us sing;
Alleluia! Alleluia!"

     When little children are asked to draw a picture of their family, their pet always finds its rightful place with mom, dad and siblings. A dog, cat or other pets can be a close companion, a best friend, someone to talk to, or company just to sit and pass the time. We develop close relationships with our pets; playing, caring and loving them. Our pets are considered part of one's family and in the larger picture, our pets are "creatures of our God and King".
     In celebration of St. Francis of Assisi, bring your dogs on leashes, cats or other pets in appropriate carriers and come Saturday, October 1 at 9:00 a.m., Faith Presbyterian Church, 3900 North Main, Baytown. The Rev. Dr. Richard Kleiman, Pastor Emeritus, will lead a short service and Blessing of the Animals.
     The Animal Food Pantry welcomes any animal food you would like to donate.

Peacemaking Offering

     October 2, 2016 is World Communion Sunday at which time a Peacemaking Offering will be collected during our worship service.  This offering is one of the four annual special offerings collected each year. Special offerings are a collective witness to Jesus Christ's love for the church. It is a time to renew commitment to the peace making as part of our calling as following of Christ who not only taught us the way of peace but he is our peace.   For your convenience, you will find special envelopes located at the back of each pew that will be collected during of offertory time.
