Jim's Article - In the "Kneed" of Prayer

     At our July meeting I shared with the session that I am scheduled to have surgery to replace my right knee on Monday, September 26th.   I have scheduled this for September because it is a time when Anne will be in between semesters at Baylor College of Medicine and will be more available to help with my recovery. The surgeon said my recovery would be around 4 weeks so I have invited guest preachers to lead worship for the first four weeks of October. Believe me, I wish I didn't have to do this, but my hope is that it will in the long run give me more mobility and less discomfort.   Thank you for understanding my "kneed of prayer." (groan)..

      It's already time to prepare for the back to school season. Please notice that there is a box located at the entrance to our church with information about Operation Backpack, the annual YMCA drive to collect school supplies and backpacks for the kids in our Baytown schools. Yearly, our local drive has resulted in 1000-1200 backpacks and supplies being distributed. The drive is currently underway and will end about August 12th. Thanks you for your generosity in the past and the future.
