Got questions about OAKS?  We can help.

In a study titled "Urban Trees and Forests of the Chicago Region", by USDA, did you know that native Oak species comprise only 12% of the forest canopy in McHenry County?  Oaks provide the greatest carbon sink and compensatory value, but are the smallest in number and declining at an alarming and accelerating rate!

Birds are important in seed dispersal and pest control to keep higher native plant diversity and lower pest levels.

We are undeniably creatures of the Earth, whose fate and future is utterly dependent on the well-being of the whole web into which we are woven.

In November 2009,
Glacier Oaks Nursery
had an acorn debut

in a short National Geographic article (right).

They requested a box of acorns for the photo shoot that got planted and are now trees about the size of the ones from the same crop in our fields (below).

Its a 5-7 year process to grow a sturdy oak solid enough for your planting projects!

Reserve your spring oaks this Fall and get 5 free oak seedlings next spring when you pick up!

Examine each question in terms of what is ethically and esthetically right, as well as what is economically expedient.  A thing is right when it tends to preserve the integrity, stability, and beauty of the biotic community.  It is wrong when it tends otherwise.
