Fall is for planting
-its what
the trees
do.

Seeds of our future planted by wind and squirrels too.

Acorns drop
with
the
slightest
sound on the soil.  Then roots seeks earth and begin to coil,

and intertwine, as all nature does,

between life taking and life giving -all because,

everything's connected and tied to the other,
dependent on biota that depends on climate and weather.

We eat the food that the insects tend,
we take shelter and build tools from the earth and try to pretend
that we humans are smarter and better,
but we're not.
We breathe the same air that trees have caught.

So if you are in the tree planting business my friends,
let's make sure we pay attention from beginning to end.

Attention to natural cycles is not choice or a job we can shirk.
Plants are not just ornaments, but do life-support work.

Planting diversity and beauty we can preserve,
protect and improve living space
for all who reside here, from insects, birds, animals, plants and trees to the human race.
