Social Justice Newsletter
March 12, 2015

Today's newsletter has an important article about the still new and mostly unheard of Food Sovereignty Movement.  Please read it.  You may also be enjoy reading three parishioners thoughts about Marriage and the Family.  The last section of the newsletter has links to two articles by Thomas Reese, SJ.  The first has startling facts and insights about U.S. involvement with Islamic countries. The second is a beautifully written reflection about Pope Francis's first two years as head of the Catholic Church.

Building the Food Sovereignty Movement - Meeting a Local Need Everywhere

At the Social Justice Forum in February, Alexandra Toledo, Development Director of the Food First Institute for Food and Development Policy, first mentioned La Via Campesina, the international peasants movement which launched the idea of "food sovereignty" in 1996 at the World Food Summit. 3. Here are some thoughts on what is needed for a successful marriage:

The reason a couple gets married is seldom the reason they stay married. When people first meet someone, they have a fantasy about who that person is...
