Cowperthwaite Day
The US-based Foundation for Economic Education has suggested the recognition of 25 April as international Cowperthwaite Day to celebrate the birth of one of the most prolific advocators of free markets, Sir John James Cowperthwaite.
Cowperthwaite tirelessly pursued economic freedom and is regarded more than any other person as the driving force behind Hong Kong's economic miracle, seeing it rise from a provincial backwater to a centre of world trade and finance.
