They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Mannkal's e-Focus

Greetings!,

Mannkal was pleased to host the launch of, A Libertarian Primer for Future Leaders of Western Australia, compiled by Mannkal's Advisory Council Member and Canadian Research Fellow, Andrew Pickford. This publication will be used to help educate Mannkal interns about the rich tradition of liberty and libertarian ideas in Western Australia. It will also provide information on some of the key thinkers and leaders who have shaped the contemporary free-market movement. Most importantly, it will serve as a useful tool for Mannkal's outbound interns, assisting them to navigate through their international intern experiences.

The launch was an overwhelming success with some attendees declaring it to be "Mannkal's best event yet!" Past and present Mannkal Scholars, members of Mannkal's Board of Directors and an array of fresh interested students attended the launch. It signified the passing of the baton to the next generation who will not only update the publication but write the next chapter in the story.

Human Rights on a Global Scale

With an increasingly globally integrated world, international law has arisen as a central concern. Accountability mechanisms for states and international organisations, particularly in the area of human rights, are in a state of confusion. In 2012, the African Court on Human and Peoples' rights handed down a decision reinforcing the elevation of state sovereignty over individual human rights. Check out Femi Falana v The African Union to see how individual liberty is still being constrained in the international community. Therefore, is international law itself a threat to human rights?
