Quote of the Month
|
"An inquisition into every man's private circumstances, and an inquisition which, in order to accommodate the tax to them, watched over all the fluctuations of his fortune, would be a source of such continual and endless vexation as no people could support"

Tribute to the Passing of Len Buckeridge
|
We lost a remarkable Australian with the passing of Len Buckeridge in March 2014. Len's passion and energy for the building and construction industry made him an Australian legend, and Kim MacDonald (The West Australian, 12 March 2014) explained one influence in Len's life...
"It is telling that a favourite author was Ayn Rand and he once referred to her novels Atlas Shrugged and the Fountainhead as 'bibles' that shaped his views as an architecture student.
Like Rand's heroes, he stayed true to his ideals even when they went against the grain.
Chief among his beliefs was that everyone should have the right to home ownership.
In his final year at Perth Tech, his thesis, which won the James Hardie prize, was called The Economical House"
Kim MacDonald, The West Australian, 12 March 2014
