Mannkal's e-Focus

Greetings!,

With the the season of public holidays coming to a close, the Mannkal team have been busy hearing from their 12 scholars that have now settled in Canada, USA, London, Melbourne and New Zealand. Mannkal recently heard from Mark Maciolek, a Mannkal scholar who attended the Australian Libertarian Conference in Sydney early 2013. Mark just returned from a six month international exchange to the University of Vermont. To read about Mark's experiences, please scroll down.

Mannkal was pleased to welcome Dan Ryan, Brisbane based solicitor and a Director of the Lion Rock Institute, who discussed China's evolving relationship with Australia and whether the divide between Australia and China is political rather than cultural in nature. Although the discussion did not settle on a final answer, it was nevertheless an interesting debate!

Quote of the Month

"History tells us a lot. Both Palmer and Day wanted to enter Parliament as Liberal candidates and the party, which prefers political advisers and lawyers to business people, rejected both."
