Mannkal's e-Focus

Greetings!,

This month we see our international Mannkal Scholars return from internships at think-tanks in the US, Hong Kong and the UK. We have thoroughly enjoyed reading about their experiences on each of the Scholar blog pages (please see our 'Mannkal Scholars Abroad' section below for more information) and look forward to hearing their perspectives once they return to Perth. If you are interested in learning more about our scholarship and internship opportunities, please go to www.mannkal.org.

Government surveillance and privacy has also been a hot topic of conversation in the Mannkal office this month, after learning about startling evidence of the US Government infiltrating social media websites and phone conversations as part of their 'surveillance efforts'. For long time advocate against government spying Ron Paul, this information came as no surprise (read what he has to say about the issue here). Perhaps this a lesson for what is to come (or is already here) in Australia? This article seems to suggest so!
