Mannkal's Focus
Greetings!,
This Month at Mannkal, we are pleased to welcome five of our international Mannkal Scholars back to Perth after completing their internship experiences abroad. Mannkal will be hosting a Sundowner in our office for the students and look forward to hearing more about their work in North America and Asia. To read each of the Scholar's experiences during the last several months, please see below for more.
Earlier this month, Mannkal hosted a sundowner event to celebrate the fifth successful year of the Mannkal/Lion Rock Institute Internship Program in Hong Kong. Almost all Mannkal/Lion Rock Alumni of the program joined in celebration of the milestone, and were greeted by Lion Rock Directors via Skype where they discussed the program and ideas to expand the global alumni network. Andy Yeung from the Institute was also in attendance after travelling to Western Australia. To view photos from the event, please click here.
In light of the 'political silly season' soon approaching as we move to state and federal elections this year, comedian George Carlin sums up some of the greatest examples of political puffery in a video I personally enjoyed and thought timely to share - click here for the link.
The March 9th State Election is also discussed in a recent article in WA Business News, produced by Mannkal Board Member John Hyde in collaboration with Senior Fellow Andrew Pickford. For the link to the full article, please click here.
Please feel free to forward this email or any of this material onto your own contacts. To subscribe to this publication, please click here (for new subscribers only).
My regular Mannerisms this month features 'Business Success; choose between complying and surviving'.

Time to Scrap the Minimum Wage?
Evidence shows that Minimum Wage laws achieve the opposite to their intent, that is why there is concern in Hong Kong that this evidence is being ignored as they are introducing similar counter-productive laws here! For the New Zealand perspective, click here, and for an Australian perspective, Alexander Philipatos from the Centre for Independent Studies provides an interesting reflection in Business Spectator.
