Greetings!,
Mannkal is pleased to announce its scholarship programme for the summer university break. This year we have an unprecedented four international internships on offer, which all run for two months and are fully supported by scholarships awarded by the Mannkal Foundation! Please scroll down to see internship opportunities that you may be interested in.
We would also like to take this opportunity to let know about two events Mannkal is holding in October. Mannkal and Murdoch School of Law will be holding a two-day conference from October 12-13 on issues surrounding censorship and freedom of speech in contemporary Australia. Scholarships are available for students, so please scroll down to learn more.
The second event is the Semester Two Mannkal/ECOMS Student Dinner, which is being held on the 8th of October at the Claremont Hotel. Tom Switzer, current editor of The Spectator Magazine will be the guest speaker. This event is free for all students!

Mannkal's Summer Internship Program!

The Mannkal Economic Education Foundation wishes to send four suitable Western Australian students to fulfil each of the below internship opportunities at internationally-recognised research foundations.
- Lion Rock Institute, Hong Kong
- The Frontier Centre for Public Policy, Canada
- The Fraser Institute, Vancouver, Canada
- Thr Atlas Economic Research Foundation, Washington DC, USA

- Statement of Academic Record (an unofficial transcript is sufficient)
- Cover Letter (1 page) detailing why you would like to be selected for this scholarship. Please write on only one of the four scholarships on offer. Applicants who progress through to the interview stage of the selection process will be considered for all four opportunities.

The Threats to Freedom of Speech Conference

For the first time in 2012, the Mannkal Economic Education Foundation and the Murdoch University School of Law are holding a two-day Conference dedicated to the discussion of threats posed to the security of liberty in Australia and worldwide.
The "Threats to Freedom of Speech Conference" will provide students with the opportunity to hear from leading academics and experts to discuss the legal context and the current challenges facing free speech in Australia and worldwide.
The Conference will be divided into two parts. The first part is a welcoming reception held on Friday, 12 October in the Murdoch Law School Foyer with the opportunity to meet fellow Conference attendees. The second part is a day Conference held on Saturday, 13 October from 12pm to 6pm in the Murdoch University Freehills Lecture Theatre.
Registration for the Conference is normally $130, however full scholarships are available for students! To apply for a scholarship to attend the conference, please email your current Resume to Alexander McVey by Friday 21 September 2012.

The second Mannkal Student Dinner will be held in conjunction with the ECOMS Society of UWA. The guest presenter will be Tom Switzer, Research Associate at the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney. Tom is also a former opinion editor for
