Charles Pym, a Fourth Year Law/Economics Student, was recently awarded a Mannkal scholarship by the University of Western Australia to travel to Hong Kong and work as a policy intern with the Lion Rock Institute, prior to attending an Austrian Economics Conference in Shanghai .    Donna Laframboise Perth Visit!   

The Institute of Public Affairs is bringing to Perth world-renowned Canadian author and journalist Donna Laframboise to talk about her new book The Delinquent Teenager Who Was Mistaken for the World's Top Climate Expert.

    Freedom to Choose 2012 

The Freedom to Choose 2012 conference will be held at the University of Notre Dame Fremantle Campus on July 27, 2012. Freedom to Choose is an annual one-day economics conference devoted to considering the degree to which policy makers should pursue free-market policies, and is once again sponsored by Mannkal and the University of Notre Dame.
 
The 2012 Conference has the sub-theme of "The Rise of Free Trade Sentiment in Australia in the Twentieth Century". Students and other interested members of the public wishing to attend the conference should apply quickly by July 15th. Places are limited to 80 attendees.   Milton Friedman's Centenary Event
To commemorate a century since the birth of Milton Friedman, one of the most important economic thinkers, the UWA Business School, with the support from the Mannkal Economic Education Foundation, will be holding a special screening of documentaries on Friedman from the Intellectual Portrait Series. This will be followed with some personal reflections from Winthrop Professor Ken Clements, UWA Business School and Ron Manners, Mannkal Economic Education Foundation.

   Conservative Leadership Foundation 2012 Writing Competition
The Conservative Leadership Foundation is once again holding an essay competition for Australians aged 18 to 30. This years first prize is $1000 and a trip to Washington DC for leadership training courses! For more information and to enter please click here.  


  The Centre for Independent Studies Liberty & Society Conferences 
The CIS recognises the importance of supporting young people who have an interest in exploring the foundations of a free society.
