Special Report: Australian Taxpayers Alliance

    Australian Taxpayers Alliance Launch

Over 200 people packed into the NSW Parliament House on Tuesday May 1 to attend the formal launch of the Australian Taxpayers' Alliance. A further three hundred were unable to be physically present, but participated through an interactive live stream & chat online.

The Australian Taxpayers' Alliance is an innovative new grassroots advocacy & activist organization. It is dedicated to standing up for hardworking Australian taxpayers, opposes the high taxes, wasteful spending, and crippling red tape that are hurting Aussie families and businesses, and provide a voice for everyone who opposes the big-government agenda.

Attendees included political figures from all sides of politics, such as Nick Minchin & Eric Abetz from the Coalition, Cassandra Wilkinson, Labor Primary Candidate for Lord Mayor of Sydney, and Peter Whealan, President of the Liberal Democrats, as well as think tanks such as the IPA and CIS, pro-freedom writers and journalists, and, most importantly, ordinary Australians fed up by big-government!

Tom Switzer, Editor of the Australian Spectator, was the guest speaker, and discussed the threat of big-government from all sides of politics, and in particular the damaging nature of Labor's carbon tax, but also the Coalition's Direct Action Plan.

Styled as not a think-tank, but a do-tank, the Australian Taxpayers Alliance is focused  conducting research, the activities of the ATA shall be directed towards educating and activating everyday Australians, and in creating the necessary grassroots momentum for change.

Furthermore,  In contrast to the out-dated command-and-control style micromanagement structure left-wing activist groups, the Australian Taxpayers' Alliance is a decentralised network designed to empower individuals to take action in their own communities, and create their own 'franchises' within an appropriate framework. As such, the Alliance is calling on Australians to start up chapters in their own area, and help promote freedom in their own communities.
