The UN recently admitted that attempts to curb Child labour and slavery in the production of cocoa have largely failed. In the Ivory Coast for example, 30% of the cocoa farm workers are children and. many are slaves. And the job is very hazardous. Fair Trade is the alternative. During this active shopping period, this is a great opportunity to consider our consumer impacts, both positive and negative, that we can have on people and the planet.
