Dunham Tool 50M Spindle Headstock Assemblies are used to build or retrofit Lathes, Cylindrical Grinders, Polishing Machines and many Special Machines.  Please see below for a Dunham CAD Layout Drawing for a complete Dunham 50M Spindle Headstock, Pulley and Air Collet Closer Assembly.

These Dunham 50M Spindle Headstocks are manufactured with high accuracy angular contact bearings yielding Spindle accuracies of 0.000020" to 0.000050" TIR.  Typically equipped with Dunham Air Collet Closers and Pulleys, these Dunham Spindles are used for both thru hole and discreet chcuking applications.  Dunham 50M Spindle Assemblies directly accept all 5C Collets (or optional 1C and 3C Collets) in a configuration, and are rated for up to 6000 RPM operation with 1/4 to 3 horsepower motors.  They also run exceptionally well at slow speeds.  Dunham 50M Spindle Assemblies are equipped with a variety of Dunham Pulley Assemblies and a variety of Dunham Thru Hole Air Collet Closers for up to 3600 or 6000 RPM applications.

Typically used as 'work holding' spindles (80% of applications), Dunham 50M Spindles are also frequently used as 'tool holding' spindles (20% of applications) in R8 and varous Morse Taper configurations.  All Dunham Spindle Assemblies produce exceptional, highly accurate results with high repeatability and durability.  All Dunham Spindle Assemblies are deisgned for light and heavy machining applications of steel, ceramic, powdered metal, pressed carbon, phenolic and other traditional and composite materials.  Dunham Spindles can also be equipped with optional Air Purge features to further enhance their durability and longevity when turning, grinding or polishing highly abrasive materials.  As a result of the adjustability of Dunham Air Collet Closers, the work holding pressure applied to a workpiece is highly adjustable for a wide
