Meet Abbey Nadera
Outside the classroom, Abbey Nadera is no stranger to the world of volunteering. She regularly donates her time to children's charities like Reading Partners and The Help Group. So it should be no surprise she jumped at the opportunity to get involved with the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firemen's Fund. Find out why she loves helping out.
Recycle Your Old Phone
Got an old mobile phone or other electronic device taking up space in your desk drawer? You can turn that and other outdated pieces of technology into a charitable donation. Simply mail in your used mobile phone or other small electronic device using this label and we'll take it from there. All proceeds benefit the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firemen's Fund.
Shopping for Good
When shopping for holiday gifts online, GoodShop allows you to help the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firemen's Fund. And thanks to the new GoodShop To-Go browser add-on, helping a hero is even easier. Simply download the add-on and shop at any of your favorite retailers like Best Buy, Target, Walgreens, PetSmart Sears and more. So, use GoodShop and make giving extra special this holiday season.

Little Donor, Big Heart
Young Jack-Hyatt London Rosenberg wanted to donate the contents of his piggy bank to his local fire station so the firefighters could buy Thanksgiving dinner. When he learned they already had the meal covered, he decided to give his savings to the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firemen's Fund to help families in need. So, he stopped by the charity's office and gave a whopping $300! You can read more about him at our website. And thanks, Jack-Hyatt.
A Reason To Give In December
As you join your loved ones to celebrate the holidays, please take the time to remember those who need assistance, those like Venita. Her firefighter husband died in 1984, but we're still looking out this 105-year-old widow. Thanks to generous donations from people like you, we were able to provide much needed renovations to her home and continue to make sure she has everything she needs.
Remember, even small donations help us reach our December goal of $10,000, so please give online now. (And anyone who gives $25 or more by the end of the year will receive an official LAFD duffle bag-a great gift.) Thank you.
Benevolence Takes Off
Caring for customers has been a part of Alaska Airlines' mission since it was founded. That sense of care reached beyond the aircraft and into the firehouse when the company donated a VIP, round-trip ticket package for two for the live fundraising auction that follows the LAFD Invitational golf tournament, benefiting the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firemen's Fund. Check out the whole story and discover why the airline's General Manager of Sales & Community Marketing, Jeff Etherington feels his company fits perfectly with the charity.
