Bartlett, Pringle & Wolf Receives 2012 Best Accounting Firm to Work For Award
For the second time in recent years, Bartlett, Pringle & Wolf, LLP (BPW), the largest Santa Barbara-based accounting firm, has been named as one of the Best Accounting Firms to Work For by Accounting Today magazine. This award was created to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in the accounting industry.
BPW is the only firm on the Central Coast to make the list and one out of only 10 firms in California to be honored with this distinction.
The 2012 Best Accounting Firms to Work For list is made up of 100 companies. Accounting firms across the country participated in the two-part survey, which consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience and an evaluation of the firm's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The combined scores determined the top firms.

California's "Little Denmark" continues its annual Julefest (Yule-Fest) with free, live entertainment staring at 11:00am on Saturday, December 15, 2012. Musical groups will perform to the delight of shoppers in various places in the heart of the retail district--with more than 150 one-of-a-kind boutiques and specialty shops offer everything from clogs to Danish porcelain to leather, jewelry, clothing, elegant antiques and collectibles as well as five fun toy stores. The Chamber Board of Directors and Staff wish you the very best as 2012 draws to a close and 2013 is just on the horizon. Kudos and many thanks to the Chamber's Transition Team and Board of Directors for their leadership, time and talent as the Chamber moves forward through this transition period. A great big thank you to Stephanie Armstrong, Annmarie Rogers, Paris Psaros and Melissa Rogers and her team as they have made this transition journey with the Chamber leadership. Welcome and thank you to Danielle Singer and Scott Ericson who joined the team in October.
Your Chamber has been hard at work on your behalf. Please mark February 7 to attend the State of the Chamber Annual Meeting. Our 2012 Chair, Janet Garufis, will share this year's accomplishments and Scott Hadley will highlight the 2013 business plan as he takes the reins for next year. Details with time and location will follow soon.
Santa Barbara has a lot of exciting events and activities going on during this holiday season. Be sure to add December 11 and December 13 to your busy calendars. The Holiday After Hours event on the 11th and the Coffee & Connection Breakfast on December 13 are great opportunities to make those valuable business connections and get a jump start for 2013.

| Santa Barbara Visitor Center Report | | |
November was very busy with Veterans Day, The Marathon, and UCSB Parent Weekend! 2012 has been a fantastic year! We have had record numbers in sales and bed tax; and at The Visitor Center we have seen more visitors compared to last year! A lot of those visitors have been from Germany and Australia. We also had more cruise ships visit our town which is a great way to improve our economy, car free! The cruise ship passengers were so impressed by Santa Barbara and our hospitality; they will certainly return to spend more time in the near future.
The Young Professional of the Year Award and Holiday Gala is taking place at The Granada Theater on December 13. The 2012 nominees include Nick Araza, Jesse Brisendine, Sarah Clark, Stacy Cooper, Will Freeland and Reed Gallogly. The winner will be awarded by Mayor Helene Schneider and The Charity of the Year will also be announced.
