Blue Springs, MO, September 7, 2012

Fike Corporation announces the release of its new Clean Agent Calculator Application. Designed to be used predominately through mobile devices, this tool quickly and easily estimates volume of agent, and quantity of containers and nozzles needed for a given fire suppression application. In addition, the app provides a side-by-side comparison of Fike's premier fire suppression products ECARO-25®, DuPont™ FM-200® and ProInert®, in order to determine which agent best suits the situation.

The Clean Agent App has the ability to calculate using UL/FM or LPCB standards and is available in both Imperial/US and Metric units of measurement, making this a global tool. In addition, it supplies room pressures for each gas, produces graphs which visually help to assess peak room pressures and sends these graphs to the user's email for design and bid development.

Fike's Clean Agent Calculator can be accessed and downloaded onto mobile devices, by going to http://www.fikeCAcalc.com.

California's CAR Chief on Cap and Trade

Letter from the President of California's Climate Action Reserve

Dear friends and colleagues,

Six years ago, history was made when we witnessed Governor Schwarzenegger sign the California Global Warming Solutions Act (AB 32) into state law. Now we are about to be part of another historic event when AB 32's cap-and-trade program launches and creates the first economy-wide cap on greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in the U.S. This fall, the program will officially begin as allowances are distributed and the first market activity - an auction for allowances - takes place. The California Air Resources Board (ARB), along with capped entities, market participants, and policy experts are working hard to ensure the state is ready by conducting training exercises, such as ARB's recent test auction, and by testing the program's infrastructure and systems.

Montreal Protocol Celebrates Silver Jubilee

Paris/Nairobi, 16 September 2012

From OzoNews

Hailed as the most successful treaty in UN history - for achieving universal ratification and meeting its targets ahead of schedule, the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer will celebrate its 25th anniversary on 16 September.

The Protocol, which was ratified by 197 countries, has enabled reductions of over 98 percent of all global production and consumption of controlled ozone-depleting substances.

The Protocol also oversaw the global phase-out of chlorofluorocarbon (CFCs) by 2010.

Global observations have verified that atmospheric levels of key ozone depleting substances are going down and it is believed that with implementation of the Protocol's provisions the ozone layer should return to pre-1980 levels by 2050 to 2075; Thanks to controls implemented under the Protocol, the global community will be spared millions of cases of skin cancer and cataract - in addition to trillions of dollars in health care.

Climate Change and HFC's - DuPont Addresses Misunderstandings
Dubai Metro - Protected by FM-200

By Mark L. Robin
DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts

This confusion in the clean agent marketplace results from a lack of understanding of three key issues. Each requires reviewing in detail and provides factual information related to the use and environmental impact of HFCs in fire suppression applications. The three issues are:

1. The meaning of global warming potential (GWP) values.
2. The impact of HFCs used in fire suppression on climate change.
3. Regulations related to HFCs in fire suppression applications.

Keeping Up With Karen Zukarfein - Wesco Southern Region Sales Manager
Karen Zukarfein
Karen Zukarfein

Karen Zukarfein is Wesco's Southern Regional Manager, covering from Virginia, down and across Tennessee, to Texas. She's been with Wesco for 5 years come October and started out in our accounting department. She was so personable with dealing with people that Shannon Esopenko, Wesco's Vice President of Sales and Marketing, wanted to snatch her up for a sales position, and she did! Karen is very conscientious, very thorough and does over and beyond to make the customer happy.

On the personal side, she's been enjoying the summer spending time at the beach and going to concerts and it saddens her to see the warm weather come to an end! Now that September is here, she's been busy helping her oldest daughter Marissa set up her classroom for her first year as a Kindergarten teacher. She's enjoying her new position as the Southern Regional Sales Manager - traveling to trade shows and meeting customers has been great! She's looking forward to doing more of that this fall and, when the Christmas season comes about, she's looking forward to spending Christmas in Texas, where her daughter Brianna is stationed at Fort Sam, in San Antonio.

You can contact Karen by email at karen@ushalonbank.com or by phone at 732-590-2219.
