Dear BBB Accredited Business,

It's November! Thanksgiving is only a week away, but is turkey on the minds of consumers & businesses? The focus seems to be on what comes after the turkey and stuffing has been eaten - Black Friday! It seems to be the official start of the Holiday shopping season and is without a doubt the busiest retail day of the year.

With that in mind, we bring you several articles on how you can make sure your business is ready for this busy season and how to  keep your customers happy and most importantly returning to your business.

Money can definitely be tight around the holidays. Some consumers save the entire year to prepare while others look at getting holiday jobs to compensate for the money they will spend on gifts, parties, etc. In our 3rd article we offer advice on landing a good holiday job.

Last month we brought you an article about thieves stealing the identity of children and how this can be very damaging for these children later in life. This month we follow that article with a video from Cynthia Albert and WWL-TV explaining how to protect your child's indentity.

Here at the BBB we are especially thankful this holiday for our Accredited Businesses. Without our AB's the Better Business Bureau would not be possible!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM THE BBB STAFF!

The Better Business Bureau Finds Holiday Shopping Lists Focus on Value and Service

holiday present

In today's economy it shouldn't come as a surprise that value and service are highly prized in the consumer's mind, . Other factors that may have attracted a consumer's interest in better economic times are now way down on the list for most people faced with today's tougher economic reality.

Is Your Business Ready for the Holidays?

Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday - aka Thanksgiving weekend - are just a few weeks away. Consumers everywhere are already busy checking out websites, marking up sales circulars and conferring with friends and family on joint and solo shopping strategies that almost always include standing in line for hours in freezing temperatures for the opportunity to be one of the first to get electronics at steep discounts, designer duds for next to nothing and toys at prices that even Santa's elves can't match.

BBB helps consumers land a holiday job

According to the National Retail Federation, retailers are expected to hire between 585,000 and 625,000 seasonal workers this holiday season. Better Business Bureau recommends applicants apply early, research potential employers and be cautious of fraudulent job offerings. With the national unemployment rate hovering at about 7.8 percent, competition for seasonal jobs could prove to be quite difficult. Here are a few tips applicants can use to position themselves as ideal candidates

BBB Video: Childhood Identity Theft

Identity Theft is not often thought to be a problem for children, but it can be a serious problem. Children are a great target as they often do not have their credit reports checked until they become 18 or older.
