 Tillamook Air Museum- In 1942, the US Navy began construction of 17 wooden hangars to house the K-class blimps being used for anti-submarine coast patrol and convoy escort. Two of these hangars were built at the Naval Air Station Tillamook, commissioned in December 1942 to serve the Oregon/Washington coast. The K-ships were 252 feet long and filled with 425,000 cu. ft. of helium. With a range of 2,000 miles and ability to stay aloft for three days. Naval Air Station Tillamook was decommissioned in 1948. 
In 1992, Hangar "A" was destroyed in a fire. Since 1994, Hangar "B" has been home to one of the top five privately owned aircraft collections in the nation. The museum features approximately 30 aircraft. www.tillamookair.com |

 Frogs - There are close to 4,000 known species of frogs, including toads. They range in size from less than half an inch to nearly a foot long and come in a rainbow of colors and patterns.
Adult frogs are carnivorous and will eat just about anything smaller than themselves, including insects, worms and even other frogs. A frog's long, sticky tongue is attached in the front of its mouth. Recently scientists have noticed a decline in the number of frogs and other amphibians around the world. Some species are believed to have become extinct within the past 50 years. Causes for the decline include pollution, habitat loss, new predators, disease and even a fungus. www.didyouknow.org |
